Comparison

GoBuild vs
Buildertrend

Buildertrend is the most established residential construction platform in North America. The question for a Canadian builder is not whether it is capable — it is how much of it you will use, and what it does about Canadian rules.

Who Buildertrend is for

Let's be straight about it.

Buildertrend is aimed squarely at residential builders and remodelers, which is the same audience GoBuild serves. It is a large, mature platform with a long feature list and a substantial customer base, and for a builder who wants the deepest possible feature set and has someone to run it, it is a serious option.

Where the two differ

Two practical differences. First, how you buy: Buildertrend's funnel is a scheduled demo and a custom plan built for you. Second, scale of tool: Buildertrend is built for builders who will staff someone to run it. GoBuild is built to be run by the person who is also on site — one plan, everything switched on, no implementation project.

The Canadian side

Buildertrend began publishing Canadian content in December 2025 — articles on Canadian home building quality and delivery timelines. That is a market they are moving into, not one they were built for. GoBuild started from Canadian rules rather than adding them.

Common questions

Is Buildertrend good software?

Yes. It is the most established residential construction platform in North America and it earned that position. The honest question is fit: how much of a very large platform you will actually use, and whether it handles the Canadian side of your paperwork.

Does Buildertrend work in Canada?

Canadian builders do use it. It is a US-built product that began publishing Canadian-specific content in December 2025, and its site does not document statutory holdback, GST/HST on progress billing, or WSIB/WCB tracking. Ask them directly about those three things if you are evaluating both.

What happened to CoConstruct?

Buildertrend acquired CoConstruct and folded it in. If you were a CoConstruct customer looking at alternatives, that consolidation is usually the reason.
